The festivities and the different types of ceremonies that took place in Brazil during the 60 years of the Philippine period give us a valuable insight into the functioning of the society of the time, a vision traditionally little treated by historiography. In this section we approach all of them: civil, religious, military, seasonal... festivities. In this way, we will enter into the interior of the collectivities to better analyze their functioning, which will lead us to a better knowledge of the population living in Portuguese America during the 16th-17th centuries.
