Nr. 1774 - Francisco Coutinho, merchant in Amsterdam, authorizes Andre de Burgos Contreira in Porto and Diogo Timao, Dutch merchant there, to claim five casks of cheese that were sent to Porto in 1618 by Coutinho in the ship Sampson of skipper Meijnert Willemsen Schräm from Enkhuizen, consigned to Florencia Dias, sister of Domingos Lopes Vitoriand widow of Diogo Gomes Senior. The goods were were confiscated by the fiscal authorities because another Florência Dias, widow of Graviel Alvares, had been taken prisoner by the Inquisition. Coutinho also authorizes the said people to claim goods that are coming from Brazil for his account and that are consigned to Gaspar Marcus Mendes, both of whom are absent. 1619, July 3 Not. RB-882 Koen, E. M., and Lehmann Ruth P. Nr. 1770 - Pero Gomes de Lisboa, 25 years old, who used to live in Lisbon and is now sojourning in Amsterdam, makes the following statement at the request of Francisco Fernandes Castanho, Portuguese merchant in Amsterdam. In May of June 1618 he loaded in Lisbon for the account of Castanho a case and a package of textile goods in the ship A Señora del Monte de Carmo de Candelaria of skipper Luis Vas de Resinde. On its voyage to Bahia this ship was seized by a privateer from Zealand. The goods were consigned to Simao Rodrigues Nunes or in his absence to Antonio Rodrigues Chaves. Gomes made three bills of lading, two of which were sent to Bahia. The third copy was taken from him by the Inquisition at the arrest of his father Pero Mendes. The bank bill will be given to the skipper in payment of his freight till Màzagan (Brazil) after the unloading of the boards that he will first buy in Norway in accordance with the freightcontract of June 13, 1619 between the skipper and De Pas.
