No. 2693 - Notice served at the request of Sebastiao Nunes, Portuguese merchant in Amsterdam, upon Albert Schuijt, Hans van Soldt de Jonge and Daniel and Johan van Geel, merchants in Amsterdam, who insured goods for Nunes loaded in the ship Nossa Senhora do Rosario of skipper Manuel Alvares Serqueira for ajourney from Lisbon to Bahia de Todos os Santos. This ship left for Bahia on March 18, 1622 but became very leaky near Madeira on April 2. The skipper had no choice but to call at Madeira where the ship was caulked. After its departure on May 24 the ship was seized by French privateers at about 31 degrees on May 28. Four days later the crew was put ashore on Madeira. RB-860 Koen, E. M., and Lehmann Ruth P. No. 2671 - Notice served at the request of Lucas van de Venne, merchant in Amsterdam, upon Christovao Mendes, Portuguese merchant in Amsterdam. OnJuly 3, 1622 Van de Venne owed Mendes about 2000 guilders for a rebated consignment of sugar, for whiche gave Mendes two orders for payment on July 7, one of 789 guilders to be drawn on Jan Macare and the other of 743 guilders, 7 stivers, 8 pennies to be drawn on Lambert van Twenhuijzen. He paid the remaining sum in cash on July 14. Van de Venne now requests Mendes to cash the orders for payment since Macare and Twenhuijzen are willing to pay these promptly. Mendes answers that he gave the orders for payment to others. If these people do not cash the orders soon, he is willing to collect the money directly and to reclaim the orders for payment and return them to Van de Venne. 1622, July 20. Not.
